As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration. If the submission extends a previously published conference paper, it contains 1/3 new content, copyright permission has been obtained, and the new contributions have been outlined in a cover letter to the Editor.
You may submit an anonymized version of your manuscript. If you choose this possibility, the review process will be double-blind.
  • The submission adheres to JEDM's ethical standards for publication.
  • As outlined in our policy, the use of generative AI software tools such as ChatGPT in writing your submission is documented at the end of your manuscript before the References in a special section called ‘Declaration of Generative AI Software tools in the writing process” with the following statement:
During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [NAME TOOL(S) / SERVICE(S)] in the section(s) [mention precisely all sections or subsections where you used the tool(s) or services(s)] in order to [REASON(S)]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication.
  • The submission follows JEDM's formatting and style guidelines, see Author Guidelines below.
  • All competing interests have been declared.
  • Authorship follows JEDM guidelines.
  • The submission file is in PDF.
  • The cover letter to the Editor (optional, see above) is ready to be uploaded as an additional file and pasted into the box below.

FORMATTING

The guidelines for formatting the manuscript are provided in the zip template format file that can be downloaded from the Information for authors page. These guidelines include citation style and references.

GENERAL STYLE

For matters of style not addressed by the guidelines above, authors are encouraged to consider APA style. It is important to note that some elements of APA style contradict JEDM's formatting requirements, so when in doubt, follow the JEDM guidelines.

PROOFREADING

Manuscripts should be carefully proofread before submission. Authors are strongly encouraged to use the free version of Grammarly for MS Word and for LaTeX to proofread their submission.

CODE SHARING

Authors are encouraged to share the code behind their submissions. While links to code can be included in footnotes, authors are encouraged to consider making their code repositories archival and citable.
